American billionaire Bill Gates, who landed in Da Nang City, central Vietnam for a leisure trip on Monday, paid a visit to Ban Co (Chess Board) Peak on the city’s Son Tra Mountain on Wednesday.
He is staying at the five-star InterContinental Da Nang Sun Peninsula Resort on the mountain after his arrival, following his attendance at a pre-wedding celebration for the son of Asia’s wealthiest billionaire Mukesh Ambani in India, a source told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper.
The resort served former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair in 2013 when he traveled to Vietnam to attend a financial conference held by Standard Chartered.
No photos of Bill Gates and his girlfriend on this trip have been unveiled.
He and his girlfriend planned to spend five days in Vietnam, BNN Breaking, an international news network, reported.
“Information confidentiality for Gates is important,” the source told Tuoi Tre.
For his privacy, he has not followed his plan to visit some tourist sites in Da Nang and Hoi An, a popular tourist attraction near the city.
Instead, the world-renowned billionaire took a jaunt to Ban Co Peak along a road linking the site and InterContinental Da Nang to admire the night-time view of the coastal city.
He remained on Ban Co Peak for 30 minutes to drink tea and enjoy the fresh air at night.

As of March, Gates has an estimated net worth of US$150 billion, making him the fifth-richest person in the world, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
Gates co-founded Microsoft, the world’s biggest software maker, with his friend Paul Allen in 1975 in Albuquerque City, located in the southwestern U.S. state of New Mexico.
