Tourism authorities in Da Nang City, central Vietnam welcomed the first foreign visitors arriving on a flight from Thailand and presented gifts and organized a lucky draw program to enhance the visitors’ experience on the first day of the Tet (Lunar New Year) festival.

A reception for the guests was initiated following the landing of flight VN628, operated by national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines, from Don Mueang International Airport in Bangkok, Thailand.

The aircraft touched down at Da Nang International Airport at 6:45 am on Saturday morning.

The event was organized by the municipal Department of Tourism in collaboration with Da Nang International Airport, Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company, and various airlines.

The exact number of these initial visitors has not been disclosed, but they were warmly greeted with a lion dance performance at the airport terminal and presented with special local gifts.

A lucky draw program was arranged for the guests, with three fortunate winners each receiving a round-trip air ticket from Vietnam Airlines for the Don Mueang – Da Nang route, along with Da Nang’s tourism products.

Other visitors received vouchers for local attractions, including Asia Park, Nui Than Tai Mountain Hot Springs Park, and cultural events such as the Ao Dai Show in Da Nang.

Following the reception of the guests, Da Nang promptly extended its welcome to more international visitors arriving on a flight from Taiwan, as well as domestic travelers on a Vietnam Airlines flight.

The airport anticipated receiving over 125 domestic and international flights on Saturday, estimating a total of 17,000 visitors, which includes approximately 7,500 foreigners arriving on 53 of the total flights.

As per airline updates, the city is expected to receive 894 flights during the week-long Tet holiday (from February 8 to 14), reflecting a 16-percent increase compared to the same period last year.
