In a recent development that marks a significant shift in Cornwall’s hospitality landscape, PBHH Ltd has submitted a modified planning application to Cornwall Council for the renowned Pink Hotel situated above Pendower Beach. The new proposal, which has been meticulously refined to address community concerns, showcases a 25% reduction in scale compared to its original 2020 submission, which encountered substantial opposition from over 500 local residents.

The updated blueprint for the property envisions a transformation into a boutique aparthotel, a concept designed to enrich the local tourism sector by providing a unique accommodation experience. The project now features 23 self-catering holiday-let suites, alongside the addition of a public café and restaurant, a retail outlet, and accommodations for staff, aiming to operate throughout the year to ensure a constant flow of visitors to the area.

Emphasizing the benefits of the redesigned project, PBHH Ltd points to the potential for creating 12 to 15 employment opportunities onsite at any given time, signaling a positive impact on job creation in the region. Moreover, the initiative includes a substantial investment of approximately £1 million towards stabilizing the surrounding infrastructure. This investment is critical for maintaining road access to Pendower Beach and its slipway, in addition to fortifying the area against the challenges of coastal erosion.

Johnny Goldsmith, the visionary behind PBHH Ltd, articulated the project’s broader ambitions, highlighting its role in stimulating the local economy, generating employment, and contributing to environmental conservation. Goldsmith expressed optimism that the community would embrace the revised and more considerate plans, recognizing their potential to balance development with ecological and social considerations.

As part of its commitment to community engagement, PBHH Ltd has organized an event at Philleigh Village Hall, offering residents the opportunity to gain insight into the key aspects of the proposal. This initiative, scheduled between 16:00 and 18:00 GMT on Monday, underscores the project’s dedication to transparent communication and collaborative planning with the local populace.
