— A fresh cold front originating from the north is moving southward, expected to impact Vietnam’s northern mountainous region by Wednesday afternoon, followed by the northeastern, northwestern, and north-central areas later in the evening, according to the national weather forecast center.

— The Food Safety Department under the Ministry of Health has imposed an administrative fine of over VND11 billion (US$445,300) on a medical and pharmaceutical manufacturing company in Hanoi for six violations, which include the use of banned substances in the production and processing of supplements.

— Police in Hanoi on Tuesday announced the arrest of nearly 20 suspects involved in a brawl at the Lo Duc – Pham Dinh Ho intersection in Hai Ba Trung District on Sunday night.

— Vietnam’s state-run lottery company Vietlott on Tuesday announced the winner of the American-style Power 6/55 jackpot 2 worth over VND7.6 billion ($307,660).

— Traffic police in Phu Yen Province, south-central Vietnam said on Tuesday that they have fined a 39-year-old truck driver from Dong Hoa Town VND7 million ($283) and revoked his driver’s license for three months for failing to yield to an ambulance that was responding to an emergency.

— Hanoi reported 37 instances of hand, foot, and mouth disease between February 23 and March 1, raising the total number of cases since the beginning of the year to 125, marking a 1.8-fold increase compared to the same period in 2023, according to the Hanoi Center for Disease Control.

— Phu Quoc City off Kien Giang Province in southern Vietnam is expected to announce the temporary operations of the Phu Quoc International Cruise Ship Port project in Duong Dong Ward, covering approximately 180 hectares with a total investment exceeding VND1.6 trillion ($64.7 million), from August, local authorities said on Tuesday.

— Madan Mohan Sethi, Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City, said during a conference on Tuesday that Indian businesses aspire to collaborate with the Mekong Delta province of Vinh Long across various sectors, including tourism, education, health, information technology, and trade in the future.

World News

— Meta-owned Facebook and Instagram were back up on Tuesday after a more than two-hour outage that was caused by a technical issue and impacted hundreds of thousands of users globally, Reuters reported.
