Run by individuals with special needs; Caters to passengers around the clock.
KUWAIT – The 312 Café recently opened a new branch at Jazeera Terminal 5 (T5) at Kuwait International Airport. The café employs special needs individuals and is the first of its kind in the region. Aimed at giving youth with special needs an opportunity to utilize their skills and abilities while integrating them into mainstream society, 312 Café employs over 16 differently abled individuals.
Founded by partners, Tareq Abdeen and Georges Khoury, the café is named 312 based on December 3, the United Nations International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The concept is based on both a fixed café location as well as short term pop-ups at corporates, universities, or events. The café serves a variety of delicious hot and cold beverages as well as light refreshments that are perfect for passengers or visitors.
Speaking at the launch event, Abdeen said: “We are thrilled to partner with Jazeera Terminal 5 for our new branch location. This gives our special youth the opportunity to further develop their personalities and interact with people from different walks of life. At 312 Café we function as a family, giving them a safe and comfortable environment to learn and develop. We feel strongly about giving them an opportunity to grow and become a part of society. Supporting these special youth is both a humanitarian and social responsibility, especially because they are creativity and skills must be utilized.”
In T5 at Kuwait International Airport, 312 Café now shares space with several well know local, regional, and international brands, both F&B as well as retail. The new branch location, T5, is owned and operated by Jazeera Airways that flies to 64 destinations and serves over 4 million departing, arriving, and transiting passengers. The airport location allows 312 Café to work around the clock and gives the youth an opportunity to serve a wider range of customers.
Rohit Ramachandran, Chief Executive Officer, Jazeera Airways, highlighted: “This is the second time we are partnering with 312 Café, first at our Head Office and now at Jazeera Terminal 5. It is an absolute pleasure to be working with such an innovative and socially beneficial concept to offer these special individuals an opportunity to function as normally as possible. They are all talented and skilled so empowering them to utilize their full potential is a privilege for us at Jazeera Airways, where diversity and inclusion is a strong part of our organizational culture.”
