Tickets for the first Major League Baseball regular season game to be played in South Korea were sold out just eight minutes after going on sale last week, the event’s marketing partner said Monday.

Coupang Play, a South Korean streaming service and the official presenting partner for the MLB World Tour Seoul Series, announced that all tickets for the March 20 clash between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres were snatched up online soon after the window opened at 8 p.m. last Friday.

It will be the first of two regular-season games between the two National League West clubs at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul. Tickets for the second game, scheduled for March 21, will go on sale at 8 p.m. on March 1.

Both of those two games will start at 7:05 p.m.

Only dues-paying subscribers of the Coupang Wow premium service are able to purchase tickets on Coupang Play’s Seoul Series website.

The Dodgers and the Padres will also play two preseason games each in March at Gocheok. At noon on March 17, the Dodgers will face the Kiwoom Heroes of the Korea Baseball Organization, and tickets for that game will be available starting at 8 p.m. this Friday.

At 7 p.m. on March 17, the Padres will play the South Korean national team. Tickets for that game will go on sale at 8 p.m. on Feb. 9.

Then at noon on March 18, it will be the Padres versus the reigning KBO champions, LG Twins. Tickets will go on sale at 8 p.m. on Feb. 16.

Finally, the Dodgers will take on the South Korean national team at 7 p.m. on March 18. Tickets will hit Coupang Play’s website at 8 p.m. on Feb. 23.

Gocheok Sky Dome is the home of the Heroes during the KBO season, with a capacity of 16,000. Coupang Play has not announced how many of those 16,000 seats will be reserved for the general public.

Coupang Play said all ticket holders will be checked for their personal identification at the gates to ensure the names on the tickets match those on the IDs. Tickets picked up through resale channels will be voided without prior notice.

The Padres have two former KBO All-Stars in infielder Kim Ha-seong, the 2023 NL Gold Glove winner at the utility position, and reliever Go Woo-suk. Kim, a former Hero, played his home games at Gocheok from 2016 to 2020. (Yonhap)
